Hello everyone! So, I have been a part of Sewing Portfolios for the past 8-9 months. Sewing Portfolios is a community of sewists online. In this online forum we can organize our work, and have a space that allows Pattern Designers to see our “sewing portfolios”. It has been so amazing to see many people from different backgrounds, all excited to be a part of the sewing community.
I really love having a location to have much of my work organized, and a quick easy link to share with Pattern Designers to look through. These links can be given on tester applications. The best thing… it is totally FREE. Everyone should go join now!
Another awesome opportunity I got was to become an actual “Sewing Portfolios Ambassador”. With this collaboration, many members had the opportunity to receive fabric from a sponsor, and use them to create some wonderful items. I actually got some AMAZING Michael Miller Fabric! This particular line is called “Cat’s Cradle“, and the colors are so vibrant. The gold stars on my set were such a beautiful color, and I found sewing this woven cotton a dream. (Pssst… make sure you look at the bottom of this post, for your own chance to win some amazing Michael Miller Fabric).
Now, on to the sewing.
I am so obsessed with woven dresses right now. My daughter loves wearing them, spinning in them, and the ease of being very independent for bathroom breaks. The first one is from Laela Jeyne Patterns. It is called the Chloe dress. There is a large range of sizes (NB-6 and 7-14) and there is an optional Romper add on.
I love the opened back, and great fit of the elasticized back. I modified it a tiny bit, with a partial “hi-low” bottom as well as omitting the bias tape for the bottom of the opened back version.
Laela Jeyne have so many awesome patterns for all ages, and I personally love the styles.
Next up was the Santorini Dress (actually a Santorini Sunsuit, but I used their tutorial to make it into a dress) from Lil Luxe Collection (LLC). The designer for LLC has great patterns with a styled twist on each and every one. This pattern is for woven fabrics, and is for sizes 18 month-10 years.
The fabric was amazing, and the patterns were perfect for showcasing them. My daughter is in love with her new dresses. Also, I can’t wait to grab more fabric from other Michael Miller Collections.
My little one is becoming such a little “model”. Although, she calls all of her poses “princess poses”. I think she practices them when we are not taking pictures, because they are very animated.
