I LOVE Sofilantjes Patterns. Anne Jacobs (the designer) has such wonderful designs. I absolutely can never wait to see what amazing thing she has come up with next.
I tested the initial pattern, and have made 4 more pairs since then. My daughter has such different tastes in clothes. She can go from a dress and purses, to some jeans and sweater (usually in one day). She really likes leggings, but loves to have pockets. You know, for collecting things (rocks). The Orbis Skinny Harems are so perfect. They have the feel of a legging, but comfort of a jogger.
Look at those pockets! And that angled faux fly is also a great design element.
These are great for use of jersey cotton, or even a little bit thicker knit fabric (with at least 30% stretch). The pocket is optional (but I feel like they complete the pants) and there is a capri option. I have made 4 pairs so far (and more in the works). I used a light weight french terry, cotton lycra, and a sweat fabric on them.
This pattern is an advanced beginner-intermediate pattern (in my opinion). This is due to the stretch fabric and drawstrings, but I believe anyone can do it! Backstitch Fabrics is doing a sew along in their Facebook Group from February 4-8th. It has already started, but you can still start up now. Be sure to join the group, get the pattern, use some Backstitch Fabrics (not required), and have some fun.
I used some of my favorite Backstitch Fabrics to complete this look, and my daughter LOVED it. (I made a Folis cropped sweater for her to match the Orbis).
